What is TMJD?
TMJ disorders occur when the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)—the hinge connecting your jaw to your skull—experiences dysfunction or strain. Common TMJ symptoms include:
- Jaw pain or tenderness
- Clicking, popping, or grinding noises when opening/closing the mouth
- Difficulty chewing or a feeling of a “locked” jaw
- Headaches, earaches, or facial discomfort
TMJD can be caused by jaw injuries, arthritis, teeth grinding or clenching, or tension from stress. Left untreated, it can affect your daily life and overall well-being.
